What to wear for Umrah
Men wear two white unstitched cloths for Ihram (one around the waist, one over the shoulder) and comfortable sandals. Women wear modest, loose clothing that covers the body, in ordinary (non-Ihram) dress. Pack a spare set of Ihram garments and comfortable, easy-to-remove footwear for the mosque.
Documents and money
Carry your passport, visa copy, flight tickets, hotel confirmation and a few passport photos. Keep digital copies on your phone and email. Carry some Saudi Riyals for small expenses, and a card for larger payments. A small money belt or neck pouch helps keep essentials safe in crowds.
Health and comfort items
Pack any personal medicines with prescriptions, a basic first-aid kit, sunscreen, lip balm, a refillable water bottle, and an unscented soap and toiletries (scented products should be avoided in Ihram). A small foldable bag for the mosque, a prayer mat, and a power bank are very useful.
Practical travel tips
Stay hydrated, especially in warmer months. Note your hotel name and a landmark near the Haram in case you get separated from your group. Keep your group leader’s number saved. Be patient and considerate in crowds, and plan your Tawaf and Sa’i for less busy hours where possible.
